The 11th TXS Pfandbrief Conference took place on the 7th April 2016 in Hamburg. A high quality agenda was prepared for the 165 attendees representing a large section of the Pfandbrief business community, including a number of renowned and expert speakers in their field. After the opening remarks by the TXS management team, the keynote address, “Springtime in Germany 2016”, was delivered by Jochen Intelmann, Chief Economist at the Hamburger Sparkasse. Following the keynote address, there was a panel discussion on the topic “Is long-term financing at an end?” A number of experts from both past and present provided statements and opinions on this particular business model. Following on from the panel discussion, Jens Tolckmitt, CEO of the Association of German Pfandbrief Banks, gave a talk on the theme, “Pfandbrief – details make all the difference”. In the afternoon, both Wolfgang Crimmann, I&C and Dr. Markus Wilken, TXS Division Director - Business Consulting, provided expert insights into the subject matter, “Regulatory innovations and trends – deviations from the existing legal and governance Pfandbrief framework.” Following on from this, Jürgen Pohl, Head of Collateral Management at Bayerische Landesbank and Prof. Dr. Christian Schmaltz gave a presentation on the topic, “Refinancing regulation under ever changing market constraints”. In the evening session, there was first a presentation by Helga Bolenski, Division Director for Hedging Strategy at Deutsche Postbank AG on the theme of “The conflict between the regulation and digitalization of the Pfandbrief market”. Thereafter Toine Teulings and Jens Lindner from the Dutch financial institution NIBC gave a presentation of their unique product offering, namely the Conditional Pass-Through Covered Bonds. Following all the presentations and panel discussions, Ulrich Streitenberger and Torsten Schmidt, CEOs at TXS GmbH, brought this year’s Pfandbrief conference to a close and invited the attendees for a tour of the Miniature Wunderland, the largest model railway attraction in the world, located in the historic Speicherstadt district of Hamburg.
The conference will cover a number of topics including an overview of both the Australian and global ABS markets. The keynote address will be on the new APS120 framework where the regulator APRA will provide an insight on the future prudential direction of securitization in Australia. Global investors will also provide some valuable insights on a number of themes, including market diversification.

Thursday 18th June 2015 will be the fourth seminar held exclusively for Sparkassen, who use TXS’s product for their Pfandbrief business processes. The seminar will be held in Hamburg.
This year’s Austrian user group seminar took place on 9th September 2014 in Vienna. Almost all users of the TXS Pfandbrief system were present to hear at first hand the latest information and developments about both TXSuite and TXS Pfandbrief. In addition there was an in-depth discussion forum between TXS GmbH and their clients as well as discussions about the future development of the software. The feedback, both during and after the seminar, was very positive and we are already looking forward to the next user group seminar next year.
This year’s German user group seminar took place again in Hamburg. As well as briefings by TXS on new product updates and developments, coupled with regulatory changes, the seminar was used as a platform for delegates to meet and exchange ideas and experiences.
The 10th TXS Pfandbrief Conference took place at the Hotel Empire Riverside in Hamburg. And despite the ongoing train strikes, almost 160 delegates, the same number as last year, attended the conference. And all scheduled speakers at the conference were also able to attend. Following the opening comments by the TXS management, Jens Tolckmitt, Managing Director at the vdp, delivered the opening key-note speech. For the remainder of the first morning, a number of market participant representatives gave current market overviews. On behalf of investors we had Philipp Waldstein, Managing Director at MEAG, Dr. Louis Hagen, Chairman of the Board at Münchner Hypothekenbank eG spoke for the issuers, Patrick Widmayer, Moody’s, on behalf of the rating agencies and finally Luca Bertalot, EMF – ECBC, spoke about the lobby groups’ activities.
In the afternoon session, Franz-Josef Kaufmann, Deputy Head of Capital Management & Funding/Head Strategic Markets & Projects, Commerzbank AG, spoke about Pfandbrief issuance where the cover pool is being used for export financing. Thereafter, Nils Rademacher, Head of Liquidity and Funding Management at LBBW, Tim Geißler, Head of Treasury at RLB Niederösterreich-Wien and Dr. Stefan Dahm, Board Member at Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf, spoke about current requirements to control and optimize secured funding processes.
After all the speeches and breakout sessions between delegates were completed, the Managing Directors of TXS GmbH, Ulrich Streitenberger and Torsten Schmidt, brought the 10th TXS Pfandbrief Conference to a close.
Following on from our German user group seminar on 18.09.2014, it was decided to hold a second seminar in Hamburg for our customers. The seminar allowed for more intensive workshops where we had strong input from our customers. Some of the topics discussed at the seminar will form part of our next major system release which is planned for autumn 2015.
The 2015 TSI Convention took place in Berlin on the 23rd and 24th September 2015. This year’s theme was “Asset Backed Finance – Europe's business financing in transition from bank to capital market financing”. More than 600 delegates from various industries and countries attended this year’s convention to discuss and hear about current developments in the securitization marketplace. TXS was well represented at the convention and had their own booth.
Asset-Backed Finance – The interplay of investor confidence, the banking union and regulation
On the 1st and 2nd October 2014 around 650 delegates ranging from the banking industry, domestic and international investors, the legal profession, auditors, financial service providers, regulators, the ECB, rating agencies as well as local politicians attended the 2014 TSI Conference in Berlin which had as its theme for this year “Asset-Backed Finance – the interplay of investor confidence, the banking union and regulation.” The conference began with the now traditional pre-conference event hosted by the KfW, at which the capital market awards prize giving ceremony took place. TXS had a stand at the conference and was well represented by team members.
